Listed below is the job description for our Install Repair Technician position. This position offers an hourly rate of $17.00 (depending upon experience and location).
General Summary
The Install Repair Technician position is responsible for the initial setup of high speed Internet service for customers. This position also troubleshoots and repairs high speed wireless Internet service for customers. The Install Repair Technician is also responsible for the basic maintenance of Company equipment and an assigned vehicle.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
Perform onsite customer installations; mount antenna/reflector on roof; run wiring from outside antenna to inside wall plate/plug; fasten wiring to outside roof/wall, or run cable through attic to inside wall
Perform onsite customer repairs; align the antenna with the transmitter to achieve optimal performance, change the mount to adjust for new obstacles, move the mount; replace the antenna/radio, replace faulty wiring or connectors
Adhere to the Company's quality standards, policies and procedures
Communicate in a professional manner with customers; discuss equipment placement, cable routing and paperwork completion; use a courteous and professional approach to address customer questions and concerns
Perform basic personal computer (PC) and Local Area Network (LAN) setup and repair
Assist customers with initial PC configuration; demonstrate Email account setup, LAN setup and basic Internet Service Provider (ISP) use
Clean up after customer installation; remove boxes, pieces of cable and sheet rock dust
Set up Voice over Internet Protocol (VoIP) telephone equipment and test for proper functionality
Complete all installation and repair paperwork
Determine which tools are needed for scheduled installations; organize and load equipment into Company vehicle
Ensure that Company vehicles are presentable and organized; coordinate vehicle maintenance, routine oil changes, inspection/registration, brake repair and cleaning
Communicate and liaise with all other Company departments; notify appropriate parties immediately of any issues which may affect efficient operations including, but not limited to, outages, service disruptions, tower volume and repeated customer complaints
Work requires weekend and/or evening work and some travel is required

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities Required
Must have a valid driver license to drive within the Company's geographical footprint on a regular basis
One (1) year in a related customer and/or technical support and/or operations/engineering role required
Excellent oral, written and interpersonal communication skills
Proficient with Microsoft Office Suite, Microsoft Streets and Trips, Micropath and other job related software
Solid knowledge of networking and electronics theory; electrical codes and standards relative to residential or commercial communications cabling
Customer service oriented with passion for high customer satisfaction and achieving operational excellence; ability to interact with all levels of staff including senior management, internal and external customers
Ability to analyze and define problems; calculate figures and amounts; prioritize work flow, multitask, meet deadlines and remain flexible
Must be able to demonstrate attention to accuracy on all duties and responsibilities
Ability to maintain confidentiality
Must comply with Company and Occupational Safety and Health Administration (OSHA) established safety policies and requirements
Physical Demands and Working Environment
Physical demands: While performing duties of job, employee is constantly required to stand, walk, use hands to handle or feel objects, tools or controls and reach with hands and arms. Must be able to frequently climb a ladder and work in an elevated position. On a constant basis, the incumbent must safely lift, carry and maneuver heavy or awkward objects one hundred (100) pounds or more. Specific vision abilities required by the job include close vision, distance vision, peripheral vision, depth perception and the ability to adjust focus. Full spectrum color vision required.
Work environment: Must be able to work safely in a field environment. Must be adept at working in adverse weather conditions. Frequent work in an office environment.
Daily travel within the Company's geographical footprint and external destinations is required.
