Blue Raven Solar, a fast-growing start-up backed by Peterson Partners, is seeking a highly skilled Finance Director/VP of Sales with a minimum 5 years of work experience in a senior accounting role. The Finance Director will be expected to manage and oversee financial operations, serve on the executive management team, and bring strategic analytical skills to the position.
Blue Raven is a retailer of residential home solar systems. We have gone from essentially zero to a nationwide top-10 solar originator in less than a year. Revenues have grown by 10x over the last 2 years and the company is profitable.
We are seeking a candidate who can respond quickly in a fast-paced, high-pressure, changing environment, with the skill to lay the groundwork of a highly skilled finance and accounting department. The ideal candidate will have big accounting firm experience as well as a love for working with entrepreneurial companies.

Working Conditions: Primarily in an office environment (little to no travel required). Periodic weekend or evening work may be required depending on workload.
Responsibilities
Responsibilities: (This includes the work of you and your staff)
Management:
1. Create and maintain a documented system of accounting policies and procedures
2. Manage the operations of the accounting department and maintain financial staff job results by training, coaching, counseling, and disciplining employees; planning, monitoring, and appraising job results.
3. Oversee the accounts payable, accounts receivable and collections process.
4. Oversee creation of the operational budget by establishing schedules; collecting, analyzing, and consolidating financial data; recommending plans.
5. Develop multi-year forecast and annual budgets with the input of senior management.
Transactions:
1. Ensure that accounts payable are paid in a timely manner
2. Ensure that all reasonable discounts are taken on accounts payable
3. Ensure that accounts receivable are collected promptly
4. Process payroll in a timely manner
5. Ensure that periodic bank reconciliations are completed
6. Ensure that required debt payments are made on a timely basis
7. Maintain the chart of accounts
8. Maintain an orderly accounting filing system
9. Maintain a system of controls over accounting transactions
Reporting:
1. Issue timely and complete financial statements
2. Recommend benchmarks against which to measure the performance of company operations
3. Calculate and issue financial and operating metrics
4. Manage the production of the annual budget and forecasts
5. Calculate variances from the budget and report significant issues to management
6. Provide for a system of management cost reports
7. Provide financial analyses as needed, in particular for capital investments, pricing decisions, and contract negotiations. Provide guidance as needed for key decisions of the executive team.
Compliance:
1. Monitor debt levels and compliance with debt covenants
2. Comply with local, state, and federal legal requirements by studying existing and new legislation; anticipating future legislation; enforcing adherence to requirements; filing financial, tax, or regulatory reports; advising management on needed actions.
3. Work closely with external auditors and attorneys
4. Responsible for all insurance policy renewals and coverage evaluation.
Qualifications
1. BS degree in applicable field from a four-year college or university (required); Master s preferred
2. CPA certification required
3. A mix of public and private experience with a minimum of 2 years experience with a CPA firm (Big 4 preferred) plus 5
years relevant experience in a senior accounting role (preferred).
4. Experiencing leading, managing, and developing staff and processes
5. Working knowledge of corporate finance and budget development.
Knowledge/
Experience:
Expert MS Excel skills and strong Microsoft Office Suite skills
Intuit QuickBooks experience required
Must have excellent quantitative skills/high aptitude to build financial models in Excel
Must have strong initiative, excellent collaboration skills, and willingness to accept accountabilityEstimated Salary: $20 to $28 per hour based on qualifications.

The fraudster will send a check to the victim who has accepted a job. The check can be for multiple reasons such as signing bonus, supplies, etc. The victim will be instructed to deposit the check and use the money for any of these reasons and then instructed to send the remaining funds to the fraudster. The check will bounce and the victim is left responsible.
